Our Story

Frances Romero, MD, MSCP is a board-certified family physician and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner specializing in women’s primary care, menopause management, hormone therapy, preventive medicine, weight management, and chronic disease care.

 

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Romero provides culturally competent, bilingual (English and Spanish) care with a patient-centered, relationship-based approach. She earned her medical degree from Universidad Central del Caribe and completed her Family Medicine residency at Lehigh Valley Health Network, where she served as Co-Chief Resident.

 

After years working in insurance-driven healthcare systems, Dr. Romero saw how busy, hardworking patients struggled to access consistent, affordable care due to high deductibles, lack of insurance, and rushed visits. Frustrated by time constraints that limited meaningful care, she discovered the Direct Primary Care (DPC) model and embraced medical entrepreneurship to build a practice centered on continuity of care, transparent pricing, and accessible healthcare.

 

In 2018, she founded Shine Direct Primary Care, a direct primary care practice in Southwest Florida offering membership-based healthcare with longer visits, no copays, and no insurance barriers.

 

Outside the clinic, Dr. Romero is passionate about mentorship, women’s health education, and community engagement, and enjoys time with her big blended family.
